Privacy Policy
Blabbo helps you practice speaking a language with AI characters. Practicing out loud is personal, so here is exactly what we collect, why, who helps us run the app and how you stay in control.
1. Who we are
Blabbo is run by Arda Lacinok, an independent developer ("we", "us"). We decide how your personal data is used, which makes us the data controller under laws like the GDPR. For anything about your data, write to hello@blabbo.io.
2. What we collect
Your account
- When you start, the app creates an account without asking for your name or email. It is identified only by a random ID.
- If you save your progress or sign in, we store your email address, or the sign in provider you choose (Apple or Google). With "Hide my email" from Apple we only see the relay address.
Your answers and settings
- The languages you speak and learn, your goal and its details (for example a trip city and date, or an exam and its date), your level, how you feel about speaking, your daily goal, streak goal, reminder time and time zone.
- Coach and app settings, such as coach voice, speaking pace, sound, haptics and animations.
Your practice
- The messages in your conversations, the corrections and tips you get, your scores and reports.
- Saved words and how well you know them, your streak, XP, badges, path and level estimates.
Your voice
- When you speak, the recording is sent to our servers so we can turn it into text and, for some turns, score your pronunciation.
- Recordings are deleted right after processing unless you turn on "Keep my voice recordings" in Settings. The text of what you said stays in your conversation history until you clear it.
Purchases
- Your subscription status and purchase history, which we receive from the App Store or Google Play through RevenueCat. We never see your card or payment details.
Device, diagnostics and usage
- Device model, operating system, app version, language, crash reports and performance data.
- How the app is used, for example which onboarding screen you reached or whether a conversation finished, so we can find where things go wrong.
- A push token, if you allow notifications.
Messages to us
- Whatever you send when you email us.
We don't ask for and don't want sensitive data such as health, religion or political views. Please don't share them in conversations.
3. How we use it
| Purpose | Legal basis (EEA, UK, Türkiye, Brazil) |
|---|---|
| Running your account, saving your progress and settings | Performing our contract with you |
| AI coaching: replies, corrections, pronunciation feedback, reports and level estimates | Performing our contract with you |
| Sign in codes and service emails | Performing our contract with you |
| Reminders and other notifications you turn on | Your consent, which you can withdraw in Settings or in your phone's settings |
| Keeping your voice recordings | Your consent, only if you turn it on |
| Subscriptions, restoring purchases, preventing fraud | Performing our contract; legal obligations |
| Crash reports and usage data to fix bugs and improve Blabbo | Our legitimate interest in a working, improving app |
| Keeping records that tax and accounting laws require | Legal obligation |
We don't sell your personal data, we don't share it for advertising and there are no ads in Blabbo. We don't use your voice or conversations to train AI models, and we use our AI providers' business services, whose terms don't let them train their models on what we send. We don't make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects based only on automated processing; level and band estimates are practice feedback only.

Some of these support features we are still building. We keep this list up to date and change the date at the top when it changes.
International transfers
Some providers process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for certified providers, the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the equivalent tools under UK, Turkish and Brazilian law.
5. How long we keep it
- Account, settings and practice data: for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, we remove it from our live systems right away and from backups within 30 days.
- Voice recordings: deleted right after processing. If you chose to keep them, until you turn the setting off, delete them or delete your account.
- Conversation history: until you clear it in Settings or delete your account.
- Accounts that never saved progress: they can't be recovered once the app is removed, and we may delete them after a long time without use.
- Crash reports and usage data: for a limited time, no longer than 12 months.
- Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting laws require.
6. Your choices and rights
In the app
- Change your answers and settings at any time in Settings.
- Turn "Keep my voice recordings" on or off, and clear your conversation history, in Settings > Privacy.
- Delete your account and all its data in Settings > Delete account. This does not cancel a subscription; cancel it in the App Store or Google Play.
- Turn notifications off in Settings or in your phone's settings.
By email
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data (also in a portable format), correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and withdraw consent you gave. Write to hello@blabbo.io from the email on your account, or tell us your account details. We answer within 30 days, and sooner when we can. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
European Economic Area and United Kingdom
The rights above come from the GDPR and the UK GDPR. You can complain to the supervisory authority where you live or work, or to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
Türkiye
Under the Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK), you have the rights in Article 11, including learning whether your data is processed, asking for correction or deletion, and objecting to results that come only from automated analysis. You can apply to us first and then to the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK).
Brazil
Under the LGPD, you can confirm whether we process your data, access, correct, anonymize, port or delete it, learn who we share it with, and withdraw consent. You can also complain to the ANPD.
United States, including California
We don't sell personal information and don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can ask to know what we collect, to correct it and to delete it, and we won't treat you differently for asking.
Japan and South Korea
Under the APPI (Japan) and PIPA (South Korea), you can ask us to disclose, correct, stop using or delete your personal data, and ask how it is shared, including with providers abroad as listed above.
7. Children
Blabbo is for people aged 13 and over. If the law where you live sets a higher age to agree to data processing on your own, you need a parent or guardian's permission. If we learn that a child under 13 created an account, we delete it. Parents can contact us at hello@blabbo.io.
8. Security
Data travels encrypted between the app and our servers. Access to the database is limited so each account can only reach its own data, and secret keys stay on our servers, never in the app. No system is perfectly secure, so if something goes wrong we will tell you and the authorities when the law requires it.
9. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change matters for how we use your data, we tell you in the app before it applies.
